Bloomsburg Falls to Edinboro in Women's Basketball
Box Score
EDINBORO - Despite a game-high 23 points from Jamie Kauczka (Kingston/Wyoming Valley West) the Bloomsburg University women's basketball team lost to Edinboro, 62-47, Tuesday night.
The teams went back and forth in the opening half of the game with five six ties and three lead changes. The Huskies led by six in the early going, 10-4, after a jumper from Kauczka. The Fightin' Scot rallied and took a 12-10 lead with 10:56 to play in the half on a pair of free throws by Kelly Calderone. Bloomsburg, though, fought back and went into the locker room with a 25-24 lead.
In the second half, the home team opened with a 10-0 run to take a nine-point lead at 34-25. But, later, a pair of free throws from Kauczka cut the deficit back to three, 43-40, with 9:34 to play. After Edinboro went back in front by eight, Kauczka scored five straight points to bring Bloomsburg back to within three at 49-46 with 6:37 to play. However, that would be as close as the Huskies would get the rest of the way as the Fightin Scots used a 13-1 run to end the game and win by 15.
Callie Iorfido led Edinboro (6-2) with 15 points, while Jessie Montie added 13. Along with Kauczka's 23 points and 16 rebounds for Bloomsburg (2-5), Gabe Miskinis (Lewistown/Lewistown) added seven points.
The Huskies are back in action Wednesday night at Slippery Rock starting at 6 p.m.
